[Blog] First 100 days (out of a mandate of 1825 days!)

A look at the actions of a newly elected Government/Party/President after 100 days is a very good indicator of the success or otherwise of that Government/President. 

A TRUE MEASURE OF THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS IN ACTION.

Some indicators for the new Alliance du Changement, just elected on 10th November 2024. in Mauritius, 100 days ago!

1. Started action straight away without a period of rest.

2. Implemented elements from its election programme of government, instead of n’importe.

3.Brought corrective measures to action/elements from previous administration (who lost the elections) as denounced by observers and indeed by the electors themselves(Such as the stealth of the racecourse from the MTC or the continued telephone tapping on a large scale)

4. Appointed people of experience and credibility to posts of responsibility in the governance machinery such as at the Central Bank, the various Commissions, Financial Institutions etc, avoiding (to a large extent) nepotism, one of the main negative feature of the previous administration(wiped of power at the  November 2024 elections.

5.Discussed with economists, scientists, and other experts the details of implementation of a given measure (such energy and food security for Mauritius) thereby ensuring the efficiency/ chance of success of the measure.
6.At a time when entire sections of the planet are suffering from the extremes of climate change (roasting under extreme heat, freezing cold, intense hurricanes, floods and droughts, soon sea-level rise, etc.), under such a planetary emergency, each country, big or small must play its part in combatting this climate change. New Government stated very its intention to do so. At present mostly as declaration of intention with some actions started relating to reduction of carbon emissions, use of solar and others for energy production etc.
