To President Donald Trump

Respectfully, dear President Trump,

You have, over this year, through utterances AND actions, MADE EXPLICIT (what was long implicit) that for you, for your government, for America, power precedes principle.

Allow me to quote to you the UN Charter, item 1, namely

“The Purposes of the United Nations is:
‘to develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples, and to take other appropriate measures to strengthen universal peace’.”

Using the best the English language allows, YOUR interpretation of the principle of this article seems to be: (please read carefully)
“to develop conflictual relations among nations based on the principle of practicality of power, namely that your rights are rights of top necessity, thus allowing you and the USA to take appropriate measures to strengthen universal control by us, the USA, and by me as President of the USA”.

“UNACCEPTABLE” to everyone else except a few such as Putin and little Netanyahu. Many hesitate to say so OPENLY. But Starmer, Macron, Ursula von der Leyen and a few other leaders have gathered the political courage to start speaking out, after your actions in Venezuela, Iran and Gaza, Greenland, amongst others. Gaza, with its tentative ceasefire, imposed but with continued occupation and an understanding with Israel that it will continue to get rid of these people one way or another – an elimination of an entire population, termed GENOCIDE. When Netanyahu is placed in front of the ICC for the crime of genocide, you may be cited as accomplice and sued as well. This will be the very first for a US President!

You blatantly declared, “I don’t need international law,” in an interview with the New York Times a few weeks ago. You, President Trump, went on to assert that you alone would be the arbiter of when such constraints apply to the US, and that your power would be limited only by your own “morality.”

The Seven Deadly Sins, as defined in Christianity (you are a baptised Christian President), are these major vices, namely: Pride, Greed, Wrath, Envy, Lust, Gluttony, Sloth, seen as attitudes that lead people away from the Divine and spiritual growth. Their corresponding opposites are the virtues of Humility, Charity/Generosity, Patience, Kindness, Chastity, Temperance, and Diligence.

Selecting the first four of these sins (Pride, Greed, Wrath, Envy), your actions are textbook examples of them. We wish you to have divine help over the next 3 years to let these virtues take in and guide your actions. Make no mistake, your actions are important for the world!!

We are aware that your administration targets global institutions like UNESCO, the World Health Organization, the UN Refugee Agency, the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, and the UN Population Fund (UNFPA).

Following Eleanor Roosevelt, the wife of your illustrious predecessor, who contributed hugely to the drafting of the UN Charter in 1947, you can contribute today to the restructuring, strengthening and empowering of the UN Security Council. For peace in the world.

But America, under your Presidency, becomes the first country to abandon the very framework for reaching agreements on climate change, the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. Life on this tiny Planet Earth needs protection. Are YOU FULLY aware of the fact that we are now 8.3 billion humans on Planet Earth, all striving for a better quality of life? And that we have only one Earth and live on Spaceship Earth, a tiny planet out of trillions of others, but which somehow sustains life, including conscious life. Because of the work of our top scientists, we now know SOME OF THE KEY CONCEPTS AND ACTIONS NEEDED for ensuring our survival, which must of course be integrated into ALL educational systems and ALL government actions. China, Japan, the UK and the EU, Brazil, Venezuela, India, Indonesia, Russia, South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria, Ukraine, and the USA (to cite but a few) are some key great nations ESSENTIAL TO THE WORK TO SAVE THE PLANET, with or without you, President Trump.

Think it out! Put principle before power. Act for peace, equity and to save this planet.

* The original Open Letter to President Trump was written on the night of his inauguration, 25 January 2025, and published on 27 January 2025. How much of the President’s style and future actions were already predicted then?

“From all over Planet ‘America’ (sorry, Planet Earth), millions saw and listened to your inauguration and first political speech as 47th President of the USA, on the 20th of January 2025.

As a group for the defence of Democracy, we congratulate you on getting down straightaway to business in the defence and rebuilding of your own country, and in declaring yourself a man of peace, hence willing to intervene to stop both the wars raging at present as well as any future ones. Too many Heads of State and Governments move too slowly, even hesitantly, in implementing the necessary reforms to make this world a better place, preferring the easy option of the status quo!

For example, your announced decision TO INCREASE, not drastically decrease, the production and use of petrol, hence the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, is totally contrary to what the planet and ALL its 8 billion inhabitants need and contrary to what the USA needs!! With that proposed decision you climb to being public enemy NUMBER ONE of Planet Earth.
