Bateau échoué à Pointe-aux-Sables : la firme Polygreen parle d’ « opération réussie »

« Opération réussie sur le Wen Hung Dar 168, qui s’est échoué à Pointe-aux-Sables, mardi. Le navire est maintenant au quai à Port-Louis. Des barrages flottants ont été placés autour des deux autres bateaux de pêche. Aucune menace de fuite de fioul n'a été signalée jusqu'à présent ». C’est ce qui ressort d’un communiqué émis ce dimanche par la firme Polygreen, engagée dans l’opération de renflouage.

SUCCESSFUL OPERATION ON THE WEN HUNG DAR 168 NOW HARBOURED AT PORT-LOUIS
BOOMS ARE CURRENTLY IN PLACE AROUND THE OTHER TWO FISHING VESSELS & NO THREAT OF OIL-LEAKAGE SO FAR

The experienced oil-spill response and the salvage team of Polygreen gives update on emergency operations at Pointe aux Sables

(Mauritius, 27th February 2022) – VASILEIOS P. managed to pivot the fishing vessel at Pointes-aux-Sable to the open sea. The delicate operation to get Wen Hung Dar 168 safely to shore lasted for more than 76 hours. The priority of the experts of Polygreen, is to salvage the FV Maan Yu Feng No. 1 and the FV Maan Yu Feng No. 168 and save the environment. The booms are currently in place to contain any potential leakage. So far, there are no leaks from the vessels.

Providing an update on the progress of the operation, Filippos Stavrakas, Operations and Technical Director of Operations at Polygreen, said, “We are pleased to announce that the Wen Hung Dar No 168 is no longer grounded. Nor have any leaks been detected. We are working on the other two vessels currently and can confidently report that no oil spillage has yet been detected. This was a very delicate operation to manage to bring afloat the Wen Hung Dar. Our mobilized IMO trained & experienced incident managers and technical team worked non-stop to ensure that the vessel is towed and evacuated from the sandbank”.

Polygreen’s salvage tug and multi-purpose pollution response vessel VASILEIOS P. will continue to circle around the two other fishing vessels. We have ensured that the 300m booms to contain, potential oil leakage remain in place until the operations are complete.

Athanasios Polychronopoulos, CEO of Polygreen said, “Our experts continue with one mission to react immediately to limit as much damage as possible in the marine ecosystem.
