Barlen Vyapoory elected Vice President of the Republic

Barlen Vyapoory was sworn in on Monday, April 4 as Vice President of the Republic. The ceremony took place at the State House in Reduit. In a statement to the press after the official ceremony, the new vice president said he was “honoured” by this new challenge that awaits him. “It’s a new chapter of my life that begins,” he said. “I will do my best to meet the expectations of the population.” Barlen Vyapoory said that he will work to be the safekeeper of the Constitution alongside President Ameenah Gurib-Fakim. “I will also work to help NGOs,” he highlighted.
