Born in Mauritius, 23-year old Anieszka moved to Australia when her parents migrated there in 2004. For the 11-year old, it was a big change. “Australia is a big beautiful country and I grew up trying to find my place in this new haven. I can honestly say it has been such a blessing to grow up in different countries and be able to gain such an in-depth understanding of the world, which makes me who I am,” she says.
Now an Australian citizen, Anieszka nevertheless never forgot her Mauritian roots. The young woman is now taking her adopted country’s music scene by storm. Her genres include RnB, Neo-Soul and Pop. Besides her passion, she also earned a degree in business management.
Music runs in her veins and she started singing when she was only two years old. “I always wanted to be a singer. Music plays a big part in my life. I remember singing and dancing as a child to songs of Kaya and Bob Marley.”
Despite her newly-acquired fame, the singer remains a simple person who dreams of being heard and felt by people and connect to the world. “Music is everything to me. I grew up listening to all genres. I love listening to Stevie Wonder just as much as I love listening to new artists like Drake. I appreciate older artists, they are talented in a very different way and obviously, there is no comparison between those two. My ultimate dream would be to blend Mauritian music with my own style – I want to create a whole new genre. I hope to do that soon. I am proud of my roots as the Mauritian culture is so enriching.”
An exceptional journey
As a kid, Anieszka took part in several plays. “When I moved to Australia, I started to take singing lessons and soon after, my brother, Steffan Rayne, and I began writing songs together. In 2008, at the age of 14, we released our very first single – Boy.”
This single became popular very fast and was featured on local radio stations in Sydney, and even made it onto German charts. It was also picked up by renowned R&B singer Trey Songz to be part of his mix tape on one of his tours. It was a great start to her career.
“I then wrote a song called ‘Entwined’, which is still very close to my heart. A lot of people connected with this song, it’s extremely heartfelt. At the age of 15, I was quite proud of being able to write such a tune. Steffan and I decided to release an EP with five songs and this was available through iTunes and so forth. It was an incredible few years and I was so happy that my dream of becoming a singer was coming true,” she shares.

Eight songs on iTunes
Today, the singer has around eight songs featured on iTunes and co-hosting five radio shows. Anieszka is still on a learning curve. “I have had many amazing moments, and many moments where I questioned things. I also knew I had to focus on finishing off my degree before devoting myself to music. Once graduation was over, I started to finish my albums. I worked hard to finish off this brand new single Fall into You.”
The single was produced by UK producer Luke Murphy, who approached her online to work together. She wrote the song a year ago, but didn’t have the right music to go with it. “I loved Luke’s work and we finished the song off. I am so happy with the result, and it really showcases who I am as an artist, and the direction I am going towards. Although it is a little pop, it still has the ability to transport you and I still feel the essence of the song from the early stages of writing it,” says Anieszka.
The single is now available on iTunes, Spotify, Google Play and other platforms. The music video for the song was released a few weeks ago on Facebook and has done tremendously well. “It’s an amazing summer song, and I can definitely imagine it blasting out of people’s cars as they drive.”
