AirAsia to bring revenues of Rs 3.6 billion

Nearly 50,000 passengers will come to Mauritius onboard of AirAsia flights in the upcoming tourist season.

This figure is based on an estimation of the Malaysian airline after a market study of the Mauritian destination. This air traffic will result in gross revenues of Rs 3.6 billion for Mauritius. During a press conference on Wednesday, the CEO of the company Benyamin Ismail, announced the maiden flight of AirAsia for October this year at a discount rate of Rs 6,000 for a standard return ticket to Kuala Lumpur. Arnaud Martin, Chairman of the MTPA, confirmed that about 5,000 bookings have been made for Mauritius for the first weekly flights which will begin on 4 October. Initially, three weekly flights are scheduled between Kuala Lumpur and Mauritius. “Our goal is to build daily connections on the Mauritian market because we have excellent feedback from our customers,” said Benyamin Ismail.
