ABS welcomes Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UUM

Atlantis Business School (ABS) that initiated the course BSc (Hons) Information Technology (Specialisation in Software Engineering) with the collaboration the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM); a 5 star rated Public University welcomed the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Professor Dr. Hassan Ali and the Dean of School of Computing, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huda Binti Ibrahim. A press conference was held at Hennessy Park Hotel on Thursday whereby the parents and students could interact with the representatives of the UUM. On the 20th November 2014, ABS signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Universiti Utara Malaysia, the 6th Malaysian Government University and one among the best management universities in Malaysia. For the director of ABS, it is a unique opportunity for Mauritians to get an internationally recognised degree at an affordable price. The Deputy Vice Chancellor of UUM Dr. Hassan Ali stated that it is a pleasure for him to work in collaboration with ABS. “Our purpose for this visit is to provide a brief overview of the courses and explain to parents as well as students what our intension is all about,” he averred. The Dean of School Prof. Dr. Huda Binti Ibrahim explained that the IT course offered is aligned with the job market. “The IT programme has been designed keeping in mind the international framework. Our IT programmes will teach students soft and entrepreneurship skills. So the students will be able to support their country in developing further with the knowledge and skills acquired,” she revealed. The first batch of the course is starting in March and the next intake will be for August. Programme Structure The duration of the course is 3.5 years:
  • 3 years full-time study divided into 6 semesters
  • 1 semester (6 month) of industry placement monitored by UUM and ABS in Mauritius
The course is approved by the Ministry of Education of Malaysia and the TEC. What is more interesting is that in the 2nd year, the student can go to Malaysia for one semester since they are the students of UUM. The Student has only to pay for his/her ticket and accommodation. It is imperative for students to go for industry placements to complete their degree. There are two intakes per year: February and September. Admission

  • Per year – Rs 76,000
  • Examinations are conducted by the MES (Mauritius Examination Syndicate) as per the norms and recommendations of UUM.
  • Facilities of payment are given by SBM, the financial partner of the institution.
