230 new HIV cases since January

A total of 230 new HIV cases have been detected by the health services from January to September 2016. This statement was made by Minister of Health, Mr. Anil Gayan, during a ceremony to mark the International AIDS Day, at the Port Louis municipal council. According to the Minister, Port Louis is a high-risk area with 40 per cent of diagnosed cases coming from there. Mr. Anil Gayan calls upon NGOs to undertake screening campaigns in hotspots. “With the UN-AIDS programme, we can eradicate AIDS by 2030.”
