Web Digital Group: Promoting e-commerce

Web Digital Group founded by Norman Neeliah and Hans Coomar has reached new heights in just 15 months of existence. This digital agency has innovated its approach and initiated various ingenious projects. News On Sunday met these two young entrepreneurs.

Publicité

Web Digital Group is a start-up which has its expertise in digital marketing, web and apps development, graphic design, content writing and IT consulting. The company offers customised solutions and all-in-one packages, which is adapted to clients’ specific needs. It is a young and passionate team that work together to create, develop and maintain digital positioning of their clients. “In just 15 months, we have climbed the ladder to success. It is our business model which has allowed us to differentiate ourselves from the competition. Today, we are seven in the team and intend to expand in the near future,” Norman says.

According to Norman, starting up a digital company is not easy. “We started from scrap. We had no choice but to rely on our knowledge and expertise and to be consistent in delivering quality work. Many sacrifices are required to make it past the first 12 months while growing at the same time. We do not promise clients things we cannot do. The team supports clients at every step of their projects. We listen and exchange ideas with clients and advise them on the best strategy to adopt,” he adds.

Promoting e-commerce

The company first innovative project has been Fashion Mauritius, which has been earmarked. Another main project they initiated is rezobooking.com, which is an online booking system allowing the public to purchase their tickets online for specific events in Mauritius. “We are living in an era of technology and things have changed drastically. It has become easy to carry online purchase. E-commerce has become a reality across the world and in Mauritius also people are becoming accustomed to this mode of life. We just want to make e-commerce accessible to everyone. Very often, people are hesitant to use online systems. So, we just need to encourage more people to use online services by making it more secure.”

E-marketing and social media marketing

Hans Coomar reveals that traditional marketing is losing its essence in the world of business. “The marketing industry has revolutionised rapidly across European countries. It is time we start focusing seriously on digital marketing. In order to be more visible, companies need to adopt new solutions. In Mauritius, not many SMEs use online solutions. It is high time to democratise digital marketing,” he states.

In the near future, the passionate entrepreneurs want to focus on communication. “We want to develop and enhance online communication through social media. We are planning to come forward with other innovative concepts in this context.”

Why not an Association of web developers

Norman has a dream of creating a platform regrouping all digital companies in order to share ideas and work together. “This platform will boost e-commerce and help small companies to grow as well as expand. Companies who are willing to venture in this field can surely come to us; we will try our best to help them. We should work together to find the best solutions.”

Our hope for the future

The young entrepreneurs hope that the culture will evolve into a start-up culture not only in terms of entrepreneurship but also in terms of business angels and investment firms who are willing to take greater risk in developing new things along with start-ups like ours.
