Sir Anerood Jugnauth meets with bishop Piat

During a meeting with bishop Maurice Piat on Wednesday at his office, the Prime Minsiter Sir Anerood Jugnauth highlighted his wish to welcome Pope Francois to Mauritius in the context of the elevation of the bishop to the rank of cardinal in a consistory on November 19 in Rome. Bishop Maurice Piat will hand over an invitation to the Vatican during his visit to Rome in November. During their meeting, the Prime Minister and bishop Maurice Piat also discussed about the efforts of the government for allowing Mauritius to regain its sovereignty over the Chagos archipelago. Bishop Maurice Piat is becoming the second Cardinal of Mauritius, after late Jean Margéot who was raised to that rank in June 1988. SAJ visit to Madagascar and India in November. Sir Anerood Jugnauth will participate in the 16th Francophonie Summit to be held from November 26 to 27 in Antananarivo, Madagascar. Prior to this, the Prime Minister will head to India as from 9 November.
