Sabah Says…I’m Back!

It’s a beautiful day. I’m sitting with my toes nestled in the warm sand, looking out across the vast expanse of shimmering turquoise that lies before me and I’m thinking over all of the miracles that have gotten me to exactly where I am today. Here I am: back in Mauritius, back here writing for News on Sunday and life is good.

For those that don’t know me, my spread ‘Sabah Says’ initially began back in 2015 when I came to Mauritius for the first time. I returned to England, my home country, only to arrive back on this beautiful island around 7 months ago on a more permanent basis, which in turn means that after my hiatus, my spread here returns on a more permanent basis – fantastic news, as writing is one of my favourite forms of self-expression and let’s just say, I have a lot that I would like to express!

So who am I? Well, to start with, I am a human being who truly believes in oneness, equality and the power of love. Aside from that, I am Sabah Ismail – a 28-year-old English expat of Pakistani origin, now living in Mauritius with my husband and two young children. I am a Jack (or a Jill, if you must!) of many trades, however, as the years have gone on I have settled quite comfortably into doing what I love most: creating art in different forms, exploring social issues and my inner being through writing and using everything that I do as a means to help to make this world a better place.

Previously when writing for News on Sunday, I delved in to issues that many just don’t talk about or in their ignorance or awkwardness, choose to ignore. These were things like how society views a woman’s period, whether our families really know us and terrorist attacks and politics around the world. I believe if we don’t talk about things and start a discussion around taboo issues, then progress will never be made. As controversial as some conversations are and as painful as others may be, they need to be had in order for us to move forwards as individuals and as a society.

So, what can you expect from my weekly spread? Well more of the above of course, as well as interviews with people who I find truly inspirational, my thoughts on how to live a happier life, exploration of the inner self and being and much more.  I live my life by the mantra, “Be the change you wish to see in the world” and each and every day that I am blessed with, I try my best to become better, stronger and happier. I wish to be the change I want to see; for me, for all of our children and most of all, for the whole of humanity.

Join me on my journey and please do get in touch if there is anything you would like me to discuss or explore.  I can’t wait to share all of this with you. Enjoy the ride!

Light & Love,

Sabah
